Our Ministry

tetmCaptureWe have been led by God to serve with To Every Tribe Ministries and the Center for Pioneer Church Planting.  Here’s a brief introduction to TETM.  More information about TETM can be found on the ministry’s website.

To Every Tribe Ministries

To Every Tribe Ministries, founded by pioneer missionary and church planter, David Sitton, is a missions mobilization ministry dedicated to planting churches among the world’s unreached people groups.  More than 2,000,000,000 people in the would today live within cultures that have no access to the gospel.  That is nearly one-third of the world’s population that is shielded from the gospel because of geographical, cultural and linguistic barriers.  Jesus Christ is simply not available to hundreds of millions of people.

To Every Tribe Mission Statement

TETM’s vision for missions comes from Paul’s words in Romans 15:20-21:

“It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ was not known, so that I would not be building on someone else’s foundation. Rather, as it is written: Those who were not told about him will see, and those who have not heard will understand.”

Surrounded by unevangelized masses, Paul announced his intentions to carry the gospel to the unreached regions of Spain.  Paul believed that when the gospel is established in a region, those new believers then have the responsibility of finishing the job of evangelism in those areas.  Paul, the pioneer church planter, was compelled to move on into new fields where Christ was still unknown.  Lack of access to the gospel seems to have been a primary issue for determining where Paul would invest his energy.

Like Paul, TETM is not so much interested in carrying the gospel to places where it is already established, as planting it in un-sown fields.  TETM church planting teams are committed to being gospel pioneers, not pastoral settlers.

From Romans 15:20-21, then, comes the following mission statement:

To Every Tribe Ministries exists to glorify God by preaching the gospel in the still unreached regions and to plant self-lead, self-sustaining, self-reproducing evangelical congregations among them. A vital part of our mission is to mobilize and equip new disciples so that they quickly learn to reproduce and become missionary sending churches themselves.

To Every Tribe Ministry Focus

TETM has many developing facets of ministry, each of which is directly intentional to accomplish the mission outlined in the mission statement.

In order to achieve that purpose, TETM is committed to the following ministries.

  • Pioneer Church Planting – We are presently engaged with unreached people groups in Papua New Guinea and Mexico.
  • The Center For Pioneer Church Planting (CPCP) – In addition to cross-cultural church planting it is our desire to extend this ministry into the next generation by training new pioneers for the gospel. The CPCP began its first class in January, 2006.
  • Short-Term Mission Trips – Short-term mission trips are the “farm system” in which long term church planters often get their initial vision for cross-cultural mission. TETM organizes multiple trips annually into Mexico and Papua New Guinea.
  • To Every Tribe Sending Agency – As missionaries are recruited, trained and deployed cross-culturally, a well built organization infrastructure is required to send and serve these church planting teams. We are evolving quickly into a full fledged missionary sending agency.
  • Ongoing Tribal Research – TETM constantly has its eye on the far-flung places where no name for Christ exists. As we learn of unreached peoples in new areas it is our desire to train missionaries and target these untouched territories. We need trained ethnographers to assist us in locating the places still in most need of the gospel.

More about the Center for Pioneer Church Planting

CPCP-CaptureThe Center for Pioneer Church Planting (CPCP) is a two-year missionary training program that combines intensive in-class preparation and study in South Texas with ‘hands-on’ training in church planting locations in Papua New Guinea and Mexico.  We believe the most effective way to learn how to plant churches is by doing it with experienced church planters.  We do not minimize the importance of classroom learning, but we do believe on-field mentoring coupled with the classroom is what makes our training unique.

The Center for Pioneer Church Planting does not replace a

college or seminary degree nor is a college degree required for entrance into the program.  The training offered is designed specifically for those interested in pioneer church planting among unreached people groups.  Some may sense the Lord’s leading but are not completely certain of where He may be leading.

The training the CPCP offers may be one of the tools God uses to provide instruction and direction.  Because we believe in the centrality of the local church in sending missionaries, we strongly encourage those interested in this training to seek the godly counsel of trusted pastors and church leaders in the decision making process.

While the focus in the on-the-job training is primarily among tribal groups, we believe the principles of church planting that will be taught are universal and cut across cultures, target groups, and religious backgrounds.  Classroom training will focus on a broad range of topics.  Theology and cross-cultural issues will obviously be a primary focus, but we will also have very practical studies including missionary health and first aid studies.  Times of worship and prayer will also be built into the schedule.  The goal of this training program is to prepare pioneer church planters for the task of finishing the Great Commission.
